The Experience
Your Perfect Home Away From Home
The Idyllic Mountain Town Truckee is named after a famous Paiute Indian chief and began as a railroad and lumber town, complete with dozens of saloons, merchants, brothels, a China town and even a nineteenth century jail that briefly held infamous notables such as "Baby Face" Nelson, "Ma" Spinelli and "Machine Gun" Kelly. Today, the historic and charming downtown offers visitors an Old West feel, excellent restaurants, an array of shopping experiences and purveyors providing convenient mountain sport equipment rentals. In recent years, Truckee has grown to be a major destination for its remarkable atmosphere and easy access from Highway 80 and close proximity to Reno, Sacramento and San Francisco airports.
